The Characteristics of Each Body Shapes

Hello once again, I take it that you have identified what`s your body shape. Great!  As you will read in this blog each body shape has its own characteristics that makes each body shape unique. 

PETITE- your build is basically a neat finish, but some of you may have the characteristics of the other shapes in a more compact form. Your petite shape is one that is easy to dress in trendy clothing.  

COLUMN- you have a narrow shoulder, narrow hips, your waist is non-defined and you have small bust or none at all (Your straight-up-and-down figure). But cheer up you shape allows you to wear all kinds of trends. Yea! Yea!

BRICK / RECTANGLE – your figure the wider and or thicker version of the column with equal bust and hip as same as the column shape, you waistline is not define. If an illusion of a waistline can be created you can give off the appearance of the hourglass shape.

NEAT HOURGLASS- your body shape is defined at the bust, the waist the hip and the waist you are all over neat. Fashion likes you. You can choose to play up whatever body area you want to with great success.

Yes! I am going all scientific on you. But seriously, even though studies may have suggested that 80 percent of our body shape and weight is determine by our genes, personal choices, lifestyle and the environment.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, the female body goes through the most changes, and for some of us these changes may make us feel uncomfortable with how we look in clothing and how it the fits. After many years of sewing with lots of trial and error and a little research, I got it right, when I started paying more attention to my customers` body shape and even my own.

Introduction

    Thanks for viewing my blog. I started this blog for two main reasons, one, as  a class project for Communication via Social Networking. The other, it was an opportunity to share some fashion tips and yes, some tricks. As a seamstress / fashion designer for almost 30 years, I have learnt a lot from trial and error, from other designers in the industry and from my own personal challenges.

Throughout my career some of the predominant issues I encountered were women choosing clothing styles that did not flatter their body in anyway. The styles were beautiful, but did look right once it was their bodies. This is because our bodies come in many different shapes, some which are fondly called apple shaped, pear shaped, hour glass, triangle, column, upside down triangle, these shape influences how our body we look when wear these clothing. 

As females, our body goes through the most changes, which start from puberty and work its way to menopause. So does the way we look in clothes. To help us women chose the right clothing to wear for our body shape, in my next blog I will introduce to you the different body shapes and as we go along I will share on each shape and recommend a different style of clothing suited for that particular shape.
